Vol. 343: Jordan Sprigg Sculptures: From Scrap Metal To Sculpture
Inside the workshop with WA metal artist Jordan Sprigg and his one-of-a-kind recycled metal sculpture, The Clydesdale
At SafeStyle, we have always believed protection is about more than just the job in front of you.
It is about backing the legends who are out there building, creating, grinding and chasing something bigger. The people who do not just clock in and clock out, but put their hands, eyes, heart and purpose into the work.
That is why we have loved working with Jordan Sprigg Sculptures over the past few years.
Based in country Western Australia, Jordan Sprigg is a metal artist known for creating incredible recycled metal sculptures from retired tools, old machinery parts, farm scrap and weathered steel collected throughout rural WA.
His work gives forgotten metal a second life.
From dragonflies, owls and seahorses to sharks, eagles and large-scale horses, Jordan Sprigg’s metal sculptures are built with a deep respect for Australian wildlife, rural history and the stories hidden inside every piece of scrap.
And his latest creation, The Clydesdale, might be one of his most powerful yet.

Who Is Jordan Sprigg?
Jordan Sprigg is a Western Australian metal sculptor based in country WA, best known for transforming recycled metal, retired machinery and farm scrap into detailed, large-scale sculptures.
Using springs, gears, bearings, nuts, bolts, shovels, pliers, saws and other timeworn pieces, Jordan creates sculptures that celebrate the history of the materials while giving them a completely new form.
Some of the metal used in Jordan Sprigg sculptures dates back more than 100 years, with pieces once used by early settlers and farming families across Western Australia.
Instead of polishing the metal or hiding its age, Jordan purposely leaves much of the steel in its rusted, weathered state. This keeps the character of each part alive and highlights the history behind the sculpture.
Every mark, scratch, dent and layer of rust becomes part of the final piece.
That is what makes Jordan Sprigg’s recycled metal sculptures so unique. They are not just artworks. They are built from real materials that have already lived a life.
From Recycled Metal To Large-Scale Sculpture
Jordan’s work sits at the intersection of art, history and heavy-duty craftsmanship.
His sculptures are created from scrap metal and retired machinery parts collected from farms, clearance sales, scrap heaps and rural properties across Western Australia. What many people might see as old junk, Jordan sees as shape, movement, texture and possibility.
A gear might become part of a shoulder.
A saw blade might become a feather.
A shovel might become muscle.
A spring might become movement.
This ability to see new life in old steel is what has made Jordan Sprigg Sculptures a recognised name in Australian metal sculpture.
His pieces capture the strength, movement and character of animals while also preserving the story of the metal itself.
The Clydesdale: A One-Tonne Metal Sculpture Built From WA Farm Scrap
The feature piece in our latest SafeStyle video is The Clydesdale, a one-of-a-kind recycled metal sculpture constructed from retired tools, machine parts and farm scrap collected throughout rural Western Australia.
Standing 19 hands tall and weighing just short of a tonne, The Clydesdale is a monument to the horses that helped carve Australia’s agricultural frontier.
It also pays tribute to the machinery of a bygone era.
Built from weathered farm steel shaped by decades of labour, The Clydesdale binds muscle to metal. It carries the scars, stories and silent endurance of a time when horsepower quite literally helped build a nation.
This is not just a sculpture of a horse.
It is a tribute to the land, the workers, the animals and the machinery that shaped rural Australia.
The Clydesdale is now on public display at the new Woolworths shopping centre in Bullsbrook, Western Australia.
Why SafeStyle Works With Jordan Sprigg Sculptures
We have been working with Jordan Sprigg for a few years now, and he represents exactly the kind of legend SafeStyle loves to get around.
Someone who backed his own path.
Someone who turned a gap year pursuing a creative project, into a career.
Someone who kept building, kept grinding and kept chasing the work that actually meant something to him.
In Jordan’s own words, he did not originally think recycled metal sculpting would become his job. He thought he would do it for a year, then go and get a job.
But after building one piece and selling it, then building another and selling it, the path started to open up.
Eleven years later, he is still doing the thing he started during that gap year.
That is the kind of story we love.
Because Protection With Purpose is not just about protecting people on site. It is about backing people who are out there pursuing their purpose, building something real and leaving their mark.
Heavy-Duty Work Deserves Heavy-Duty Protection
Working with recycled metal, old farm machinery, tools and heavy steel is no joke.
When you are welding, grinding, cutting, shaping and building around sharp edges, sparks, shards and heavy machinery, anything can happen.
One spark.
One shard.
One slip.
Your eyes are right in the firing line.
That is why proper protective eyewear matters.
Jordan’s workshop pair of choice is the Fusions Clear Frame Clear Lens, giving him certified eye protection while he works through the detail, sparks and heavy-duty process of bringing old steel back to life.
For heavy-duty work, SafeStyle also offers a range of certified protective eyewear built for tough environments, including Converts, Switches, Rapids and Sonics.
Whether you are on site, in the shed, in the workshop or building something of your own, your eyes deserve proper protection.
